Stem cell research at UC Berkeley is organized and coordinated by the Berkeley Stem Cell Center, a cornerstone of the University’s Health Sciences Initiative. The Stem Cell Center brings together more than 40 Principal Investigators from UC Berkeley, Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute (CHORI), and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) into a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary, and creative research environment.

The mission of our Stem Cell Center is to carry out the highest quality basic and translational stem cell research essential for the development of novel therapies to treat human disease.
