David IK Martin’s current research focuses on the role of epigenetics in mammalian inheritance and disease. The Martin lab is developing a high-throughput screen for chemical compounds that disrupt epigenetic silencing in mammalian cells. These compounds may be useful in modulating programs of stem cell differentiation; particularly the silencing of γ-globin in adult-stage human erythrocytes.
