Dr. Lubin directs the only Sibling Donor Cord Blood program in the world. This program has banked stem cells derived from cord blood and has served as a resource throughout the United States that has contributed to the cure of children with cancer and genetic disease. The Lubin group is also interested in nuclear transfer experiments and embryonic stem cell research to generate HLA compatible hematopoietic stem cells. Generation of such cells could address situations where an HLA matched donor does not exist for someone who needs a hematopoietic stem cell transplant.
